Great and inspiring book for young readers!

Lionel Messi, The GOAT – Inspiring Soccer Book for Kids:Such a great and inspirational book for young readers! This is one of those books that's more about touching the reader and hopefully, inspiring them to be great! For that reason, I think this book is even appropriate for readers who are a little older than the age listed.I purchased this book for my 6 year old who is a big soccer fan. He is able to read it and my older son loves this book as well.

Lionel Messi, The GOAT

10/10! My son is definitely a Ronaldo fan through and through and still LOVED this book. The illustrations are excellent making this a great book for younger kids as well. My son is 6.5 and could help me read this, but paragraphs still a little long for his attention span (to read on his own). This book has become a nightly favorite!

Proof That Greatness Come in All Sizes, For the Young Player Who's Ever Been Told They're Too Small

I've played soccer my entire life, but I've never really been much of a Messi fan. Perhaps having to endure him crying and complaining as he lost the 2014 World Cup to Germany was too much for me. During that game Schweinsteiger was fouled continuously. One of those fouls should have been a red card against Sergio Agüero who literally clawed Schweinsteiger's face - opening up a large gash under his eye. But, Schweinsteiger didn't cry about it even though he had every right to. He left the pitch for a moment, had the medical team staple the gash on his face closed, and then he went back in to finish and win the game. That is a man who deserves a G.O.A.T. book in my eyes, but too often the strikers/forwards receive all of the attention. That being said, Messi doesn't have to be my favorite player to have respect for him, what he's done for the sport, and the hard work he's put in to become one of the greatest soccer players in the world. This book does a good job depicting that journey for a children's book with limited words and space.I was hoping the author would spend a little more time talking about Messi's childhood challenges, as my son struggles with the same growth condition that Messi had, and has to take a shot for it every day. It would have been great to get an extra page describing some of the ways Messi was able to overcome being shorter and less physically stalwart than everyone else. I think it's often within these struggles that greatness is born or crushed.Overall, though, like I said previously, the book does a stellar job in general summarizing Messi's life to the size of a children's book. It includes challenges Messi faced, and his strength of will to overcome them all, which should give encouragement to any young player that endeavors to battle the obstacles of life that try to bring you down or tell you that you aren't good enough. I would recommend this book to any young aspiring player! I do think ~$20 is slightly steep when comparable books are all listed around ~$15.

Messi the Goat as a Goat

Good basic book on the life of Messi, drawn as a goat. It has a nice hardcover and pages seem like good quality paper. The drawings aren’t anything out there since it’s mostly soccer depictions but the reading is simple enough for a kid 7-9 who loves soccer and wants an overview of Messi’s journey from his small town to being a champion but probably not interested enough to read a bigger book. Reading difficulty will vary depending on their ability to read cities and teams that aren’t English but besides that nothing too out there.Definitely more entertaining than those other basic books we used to read from scholastic on various star players.

Fantastic for soccer loving kids

This book is a beautiful hardcover book highlighting the accomplishments of Leonel Messi in a cute way for kids. My soccer-loving 7 yr old son was so excited when this book came. He immediately picked it up and read it from cover to cover and then again brought it out for bed time. The content is great, as it contains good facts. The illustrations are beautiful, although in a quirky way... Messi's head is a goat head throughout the book. My son found this hilarious.Overall, I'm very pleased with the book. It's always good to find reading material that my kids reach for and this one is one of those!

Great entry series for kids to learn about athletes of interest.

The book has some vibrant colors on the pages to capture kids attention. Utilizing the goat is a great way to draw kids in and garner interest from a younger age. While the book had some favorable information about Lionel Messi, I feel the price should had been around the $15 range as opposed to the $20 range.

A great hit with my second and third grade boys

These GOAT serious books have quickly become one of my class favorites. I love that they're able to read it on their own in the second and third grade. And it's a subject matter that my boys are really taking an interest to so it's making them want to read. The cover is a thick hardcover with very vibrant colors. Everything in the book is spelled correctly which is very important to teachers. The pagers are not super thin so they're not going to rip when they're turning pages. And the inside is equally as colorful and vibrant as the outside.

The kid took the bait and ran (slept?) with it

I left this Lionel Messi “Goat” book on my soccer-obsessed seven year old’s bed as a silent invitation and the bait was quickly taken. The first thing I heard was laughter: “Haha! Messi’s a GOAT as in the BEST, but he IS a goat!! Get it?!” Oh, to be a kid again…I took a few clandestine peeks to see how well the book was capturing kiddo’s attention and kiddo was engrossed, so plus five stars right there.Afterward, I asked for a review and got this: “It is full of facts about Messi. But also it is a story. It’s good, yeah, I like it. I wonder why people like Ronaldo? LOOK AT THE LAST PAGE!! No, seriously, look. There are MORE books about GOATS WHO ARE GOATS! Hockey players, basketball players, everything…!!”And then my kid fell asleep.(Okay, okay, the book is not that much of an elixir, but books that capture my kid’s attention do half the bedtime ritual for me, and this was one of those that did. IYKYK.)

The illustrations are bright and playful (the goat character was especially entertaining!), and the storytelling is simple enough for kids to follow while still capturing the magic of Messi’s journey.Watching my child connect with the book—pointing out moments from Messi’s career and getting excited about every page—made this purchase completely worth it. Got my daughter excited to read it!

My daughter could not wait to open and read this book as soon as it was delivered. It is good quality with nice pictures and coloring. My 8 year old was able to read it to me with a little assistance. She was excited to hear about the life of Lionel Messi. She is a fan of his and loved reading about him. It got her excited about reading something. She thought it was funny that he was drawn as a goat. I would recommend this book for any parents of soccer loving children. My daughter was so excited to read about one of her soccer icons that she could not wait to read the book to me. It had no trouble holding her attention either. This would make a great holiday or birthday gift!

Good for older children, too

Although they show this book being read to young children by their parents, it is also good reading for older ones. I had my 12 year old granddaughter read the story to me since the narrative used some longer, more sophisticated words. It was good practice for her since she had been away from reading for a while and she needed to get back on track. She is being home schooled and was bulking at reading books without any illustrations. It seems she was intimidated by the fact that there were just pages of words with no pictures. So, I decided to let her try this illustrated book that contained a slightly more sophisticated vocabulary than the normal children’s book. She is actually a good reader but is hard to motivate. She was more comfortable reading this type of book (she is slightly autistic with ADHD) and I am hopeful that can serve as a stepping stone to get her back where she needs to be. I also liked the fact that it told an uplifting story of a real person who worked hard to achieve his goals. In this day of questionable social media exposure, I think it is important that impressionable children see stories like this.
